Balance plays a key role in facial esthetics. Facial implants can be used to re-shape or augment specific areas of your face such as your chin, cheeks and nose. Fairview offers cosmetic surgery procedures to help you look and feel your best.
Patients complain that their chin is too small or doesn’t project forward enough. If the chin is small, placement of an implant will restore facial balance. Our male patients remark that they wish to have a stronger or more masculine chin. Many implants are available to strengthen or reshape the chin. Facial balance is complex, and one important aspect is the relationship between the nose, lips and chin as seen from the side, or profile, view. As such, and if desired, a chin implant can easily be placed in conjunction with nose surgery (rhinoplasty).
Malar / Cheek Bone Augmentation
Both men and women may benefit from augmentation of their cheek bones. These implants are placed deep on the cheek bones to accentuate them. There are several different shapes and sizes available, so the effect can be very subtle or, if desired, more dramatic.
There are many ways Dr. Bowman can alter the nose in a rhinoplasty procedure. However, placement of a nasal implant is a simpler procedure that only augments the dorsum (bridge) of your nose. The implant can be placed via incisions in your inner nose, and there are several different sizes available. The procedure is done under general anesthesia and takes about half an hour. Often, the procedure is performed in conjunction with a rhinoplasty and/or septoplasty (to correct a deviated septum).
Placement of facial implants is real surgery. Before you decide, it’s important to learn about any possible complications, even though they are rare. These will be fully explained to you during your private consultation with Dr. Bowman. At that time, you will have an opportunity for a careful and complete discussion of your options and what is involved. You will benefit from asking all your questions and browsing through our photographs.
