When injected into your skin, Restylane and Juvederm augment your body's own hyaluronic acid, and combines with water present in the skin to plump up your lips or smooth wrinkles. No skin test is needed. They can be used to treat your frown lines, smile lines, acne scars and to enhance your lips. The treatment takes approximately 30 minutes, with immediate results. For wrinkle treatments, pain is generally minimal. However, pain relief medication can be provided at your request. When enhancing lips, a local anaesthetic is usually used.

For the majority of our patients, 50-80% of the effect remains after 6 months with Restylane and 9 months with Juvederm Plus. As the filler gel breaks down, water takes its place. The less concentrated the gel becomes, the more water it is able to bind. That's why these hyaluronic acid-based products have such a long lasting effect. Correction of your wrinkles and enhanced lip appearance will subside gradually until the skin looks like it did before your treatment. Most patients benefit from a touch up when they feel the effect is starting to wear off.
