Spider vein treatment/removal is done with Sclerotherapy. Spider veins are small, dilated blood vessels that appear mostly on the legs and face. They are red or bluish in colour and have different patterns: they can be short, unconnected lines, or they can be connected in a "sunburst pattern". They may also look like a spider web. Many times they cover quite a large area, and if you regard them as unattractive, you may benefit from their treatment.
The cause of spider veins is uncertain. Perhaps they are hereditary for you. Most of these veins are not essential. If you feel you'd benefit, they can be treated with an injection that will cause them to fade or disappear altogether. There is a 50-90% chance that the spider vein treatment will greatly improve appearance of the treated area.
The sclerosing agent is dextrose and saline. The solution irritates the lining of the vessel, causing it to swell and stick together and the blood to clot. Over a period of weeks, the vessel turns into scar tissue that fades, eventually becoming barely noticeable or invisible. Some blood vessels are resistant, requiring more than one treatment.
