Do you have loose skin that hangs from the upper arm?
Many people are bothered by bulkiness, wrinkled or loose skin in the upper arm area. Sometimes this is due to weight loss and other times it may be genetic. In either case, the cosmetic surgery procedure Brachioplasty is an ideal solution, where the excess tissue is removed utilizing liposuction, skin excision or both. The surgery will leave a linear scar along the bottom of the arm from the axilla (armpit) to the elbow.
The surgery is performed under general anesthetic and takes about an hour and a half. After the procedure, you will wear compressive arm garments that will help control the swelling. During the first few weeks, you will need to refrain from any vigorous activity, and you will need to limit extreme arm motions for about 6 weeks. Most of the swelling will be gone within 2 weeks, but it may take 6 to 8 weeks to see the final results.
A brachioplasty is real surgery. Before you decide, it’s important to learn about any possible complications, even though they are rare. These will be fully explained to you during your private consultation with Dr. Bowman. At that time, you will have an opportunity for a careful and complete discussion of your options and what is involved.
